ART MEETS COVER ART

 WHEN THE ARTS MEET

Many musicians like to collaborate with artists to create original and refreshing cover art for their albums. However, there are many classic paintings that are the cover art for incredibly great albums!

Let's take a look!

 COLD PLAY: VIVA LA VIDA

One of the most famous works of the esteemed French Romantic artist, Eugène Delacroix, is "Liberty Leading the People." This iconic painting has inspired various creations, ranging from banknotes to a Coldplay album cover. "Viva la Vida" was a critical and commercial success, receiving widespread praise and numerous awards, including the Grammy Award for Best Rock Album in 2009.

The album's blend of musical styles, thought-provoking lyrics, and creative use of instrumentation have helped to cement Coldplay's place as one of the most popular and influential bands of the 21st century.

MADONNA: CELEBRATION

It is uncertain whether Mr. Brainwash can be considered a legitimate artist or a fraud. Thierry Guetta, a productive French artist who was featured in the amusing documentary "Exit Through The Gift Shop," caused a sensation in LA with his 2008 exhibition, which even caught the attention of Madonna. She was impressed enough to hire him to create the artwork for her third greatest hits album, "Celebration."

THE VELVET UNDERGROUND AND NICO:

Without Andy Warhol's patronage, The Velvet Underground's story would have been significantly altered. The celebrated artist created the iconic banana screen-print for the band's album featuring Nico, which has since become one of the most iconic images in the world of art rock. The Velvet Underground's self-titled album was ahead of its time in many ways, influencing countless musicians in the decades since its release. The album's raw, unfiltered sound and dark subject matter continue to resonate with audiences today, making it an enduring masterpiece of rock music.
